Overview

Product imagery is essential for creating a professional and trustworthy storefront. Adding high-quality images, videos, and 3D models helps your customers learn more about your products and encourages confident purchases. Our theme supports all advanced media types, making your setup experience both simple and powerful.

💡 Tip: Using clear, detailed, and well-optimized images or videos can increase customer engagement and sales.

Adding product media

You can add up to 250 images, videos, or 3D models per product. Certain media types—like 3D models and videos—have hosting limits that depend on your store’s plan. If you use a compatible iOS device, you can even scan and build 3D models directly on your device.

The first media item you add to a product becomes the featured or main media, which appears on collection pages, in the cart, during checkout, and on your home page. You can change this featured media at any time.

How to add media to your products

  1. Go to Products in your admin.

  2. Click the product you want to edit.

  3. In the Media section, add images, 3D models, or videos by:

    1. Clicking Upload new and selecting a file.

    2. Dragging and dropping files into the Media section.

    3. Clicking Select existing to choose from media you have already uploaded.

    4. Clicking Select existing then Add from URL to add media from a link.

Changing your main product media

To change your main product image or video:

  1. Go to Products in your admin.

  2. Select and open the product.

  3. In the Media section, drag your desired image or video to the first position.

Deleting media

You can remove product media individually or in bulk. If the media is used in other places, deleting it only removes it from the current product.

Delete media individually

  1. Go to Products in your admin.

  2. Select the product.

  3. In Media, select the media to delete.

  4. Click the trash icon and then confirm Delete file.

Delete media in bulk

  1. Go to Products in your admin.

  2. Select the product.

  3. In Media, check the boxes next to each media item you wish to delete.

  4. Click Delete files, then Delete to confirm.

Videos and 3D models

📝 Note:3D models and videos cannot be used for individual product variant media.

To use interactive product media, you must choose a theme with advanced media support. Our theme features the latest technology for full compatibility with interactive product media, ensuring your shop always looks and feels modern.

Video and 3D model hosting limits

The number of hosted videos and 3D models depends on your plan:

  1. Starter — 250 total

  2. Basic — 250 total

  3. Standard — 1000 total

  4. Advanced — 5000 total

  5. Plus — Contact support for limits

⚠️ Important: You can only add 250 media files of any type to a single product.

Customizing product media with metafields

Metafields let you add and display custom images or files. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, WEBP, SVG, HEIC, and GIF, and each metafield can store one file at a time.

Our theme makes it easy to connect metafields directly in the theme editor with no coding required.

Reverting edits to product images

If you want to undo changes like cropping or magic edits, you can use the Revert to original button when previewing edited media.

📝 Note: The Revert to original button is available only for images edited after January 2024. You will be asked to confirm before the original image is restored.

Product media types

Combining images, videos, and 3D models improves the customer experience and can help increase sales. Always use high-quality, properly formatted media for best results.

Images

Product images are shown across all channels in your store and are essential for customer engagement.

  1. Best file type: PNG

  2. Alternate: JPEG

  3. Also accepted: PSD, TIFF, BMP, GIF, SVG, HEIC, WebP

  4. Size limit: 5000 x 5000 px (25 MP), under 20 MB

  5. Ideal for square images: 2048 x 2048 px

⚠️ Important: For a uniform look in collection pages, always use a consistent aspect ratio for your featured images.

When you upload an image, your store automatically generates different sizes for use across pages and devices.

3D models

3D models let customers view products from every angle and even place them in their own environment.

  1. Supported file types: GLB, USDZ

  2. Maximum file size: 500 MB

  3. Files over 15 MB are optimized for speed.

  4. Both .USDZ and .GLB formats are generated for device compatibility.

💡 Tip: Need high-quality 3D models? Consider working with an expert for custom creations.

Videos

You can add videos by uploading a file or embedding a link from YouTube or Vimeo.

  1. Videos can be up to 10 minutes long.

  2. File size can be up to 1 GB.

  3. Maximum resolution is 4K (4096 x 2160 px).

  4. Accepted upload formats are .mp4 or .mov.

  5. You can only embed YouTube or Vimeo links.

Browsers will display videos at the best quality for each visitor’s device and connection.

Supported themes for rich media

All modern 2.0 themes—including ours—offer advanced features for 3D models and videos. If you use an older theme, ensure it is updated for full media support.

Metafields allow you to control exactly how your media is displayed. File reference metafields work best with JPEG, PNG, WEBP, SVG, HEIC, or GIF, and each supports a single file. Our modern theme ensures connecting metafields is quick and easy—no coding needed. If you’re using an older theme, you may need help from an expert or custom code.
