Overview

The Cart theme settings group provides essential controls for customizing the shopping cart experience throughout your store. These options determine the visual presentation and interactive behaviors in the cart, including which checkout actions appear, how pricing is displayed for multiple currencies, and what messaging or prompts are shown to customers. Adjusting these settings helps create a unified, user-friendly, and consistently branded experience across your storefront.

⚠️ Important: Changing Cart settings affects how customers interact with the cart everywhere in your shop. Use these controls thoughtfully to enhance clarity, build trust, and optimize the path to purchase.

Key components and functionality

Mini cart actions

This group defines the main call-to-action buttons in the mini cart, influencing whether customers are guided straight to checkout or to review their cart in detail. Adjust these selections to best support your store goals and typical buying behaviors.

  1. Proceed to checkout — Shows only the "Checkout" button and directs users immediately to payment.

  2. View cart — Displays only the "View cart" button so users can review their selections before proceeding.

  3. Both options — Shows both "Checkout" and "View cart" buttons to give shoppers flexible navigation.

    1. The default setting is Proceed to checkout.

Currency and dynamic checkout display

These settings clarify cart pricing and streamline the overall checkout process for a global audience.

Show currency codes

Adds the three-letter currency code (such as USD, EUR, GBP) next to all prices in the cart. This is especially helpful for international customers and reduces confusion with similar currency symbols. This feature is off by default.

Show dynamic checkout buttons

Enables quick-pay options like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other express methods directly within the cart. Customers can complete their purchase faster with these alternative payment options. This feature is enabled by default.

Order note collection

When enabled, this option lets customers add special requests, comments, or instructions as part of their order in the cart. This is useful for stores offering custom items, gift notes, or special handling. Order notes are enabled by default.

Cart announcement

This setting group lets you deliver a branded reassurance or promotional message at the top of the cart, using both an icon and a customizable text blurb. Use these tools to build customer confidence or highlight key selling points.

Announcement icon

Select a symbol, such as a lock, to draw attention and reinforce messages about security, speed, or other store assurances.
The default is lock.

Announcement text

Customize a message that displays alongside the icon, like "Secured checkout" or another phrase that fits your brand.
The default text is Secured checkout.

💡 Tip: Match your announcement icon and text to your value proposition—such as "Hassle-free returns" or "Fast, secure payments"—for maximum impact.

Empty cart appearance and call to action

These settings control the customer experience and messaging when their cart is empty. They help convert abandoned cart opportunities into new shopping sessions.

Icon

Select which icon appears above your empty cart messaging. Using a familiar or branded icon keeps this state visually clear and friendly.

Heading

Customizable text serves as the primary heading for the empty cart. A concise, upbeat message like "Your cart is empty" is a good start.

Subheading

Rich text gives you room for a more creative or persuasive subheading—suggesting special collections, bestsellers, or limited-time offers.

Button icon

Select an icon to appear on your empty cart action button. This can reinforce the urgency or friendliness of your call to action.

Button text

Set the copy for the main call-to-action button, such as "Continue shopping" or "Browse new arrivals".

Button link

Choose the destination URL for your empty cart button—commonly a popular collection, homepage, or sales page.

Open link in a new tab

Decide if clicking the empty cart button opens the destination in a new tab or the current one.
The default setting is disabled.

Button style

Select one of the following styles for your empty cart button:

  1. Primary

  2. Secondary

  3. Extra large

  4. Plain

  5. Small

  6. Small secondary

  7. Circle

Button layout

Pick how the icon and text are arranged on the button:

  1. Icon left

  2. Icon right

  3. Icon only

💡 Tip: Use clear, action-oriented button text and an engaging icon to make your empty cart message more inviting and drive users back to shopping.

Usage notes

  1. Always preview cart messages and buttons on multiple devices to ensure consistent appearance and function.

  2. Enable currency codes if you have international shoppers to minimize confusion and boost customer confidence.

  3. Activate dynamic checkout buttons for quicker, smoother purchases, especially for repeat or mobile customers.

  4. Use recognizable icons and clear announcement messages to reinforce trust and reduce cart abandonment.

  5. Tailor your empty cart prompts and actions to highlight important or new products and keep users shopping.

⚠️ Important: Remember that accessibility and responsive design are essential. Focus on high-contrast visuals, readable text, and accessible icon/button sizes. Test your cart across both desktop and mobile to deliver a seamless experience for all visitors.
