Overview

The Page content section provides a powerful way to build unique, visually engaging layouts for any static page. By combining a range of content blocks, you can create everything from simple informational pages to rich landing experiences. This section is essential for ensuring a unified look and feel across your site’s core pages.

⚠️ Important: Use the Page content section to create layouts that reflect your content strategy and brand, with excellent adaptability on both desktop and mobile devices.

Key components and functionality

The Page content section organizes your page’s settings and available blocks to give you fine-grained control over both structure and appearance. These controls support everything from page recognition to advanced custom layouts.

Section introduction

This setting group introduces the Page content section as an all-purpose builder for your main page content. Its goal is to help you maintain a cohesive, visually engaging design that matches the rest of your site. You can rely on these settings for a consistent layout regardless of the type of page.

Display page title

You can control whether the main title of your page is displayed at the top. Showing the page title helps visitors immediately recognize the purpose of the page. Hiding it allows you to use custom headings or block layouts for a unique look.

  1. Show title

    1. When enabled, the page title appears at the top of the section.

    2. Disabling this setting removes the default title, displaying only your chosen content and blocks.

    3. The default is enabled.

Adding blocks to the sidebar

The Sidebar on pages is controlled directly through the Page content section inside the theme editor. Adding blocks here allows you to feature additional content — such as banners, related articles, or products — alongside your main page content.

✅ Steps

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online StoreCustomize.

  2. In the theme editor, open your Page template.

  3. In the Page section, scroll down to the Blocks area.

  4. Click Add block and choose from the available option.

  5. Adjust each block’s settings (e.g., image, link, title, or layout) as needed.

  6. Click Save to apply your changes.

Once added, the blocks will automatically appear in the sidebar on your pages.

💡 Tip: Use a mix of banners, product links, and article teasers to create a sidebar that drives engagement without overwhelming the reader.

📝 Note: Setting up the sidebar in the Page content section will apply the same sidebar settings to all pages. For unique content per-page, set up and assign different Page templates per page.

Supported block types

The Page content section lets you use a comprehensive selection of block types, so you can design layouts that suit your specific needs.

  1. Custom liquid block

    1. Add advanced content, custom HTML, or dynamic snippets with Liquid.

  2. Banner block

Usage notes

Responsive design is a priority — every block and element adapts smoothly to desktop, tablet, and mobile screens. For best results, adjust padding and preview your layouts on multiple devices.

Performance is improved by using compressed, efficient images and keeping background elements simple. Optimizing blocks keeps your pages loading quickly and reliably.

Accessibility is vital. Always provide descriptive alt text for images, use meaningful heading structures, and choose high-contrast colors. This ensures the best possible experience for all visitors, including those using assistive technology.

💡 Tip: Preview your Page content section with a variety of blocks and layouts. A well-planned, accessible, and fast-loading page delivers a better experience for every visitor.

A thoughtful approach to these settings and options ensures that the Page content section serves as a strong, flexible foundation for every custom page on your site, delivering creative control and a consistent, branded experience.
